Shimek State Forest
Shimek Forest -- SE Iowa near the little town of Farmington -- a great place to ride if you like lots of timber trails. There is over 30 miles of trails. Primitive camping is available with a water hydrant at the lower and upper campgrounds. Reservations can be made and there are a few non-reservable sites. A modern campground recently opened nearby with electric, water, sewer and stalls for horses.
